Laboratory Services
Updated January 2016
We have contracted with two of the largest national laboratories, Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) and Quest Diagnostics, Inc. (Quest), as well as with several regional and local laboratories to provide in-network laboratory services.
LabCorp and Quest are at market-competitive rates for all laboratory work. Using these nationally contracted laboratories can help your patients obtain the services they need at in-network benefit levels.
We also continue to maintain contracts with regional and niche laboratories, as well as pathology laboratories. Services performed at these laboratories are paid as an in-network benefit, helping to minimize your patient's out-of-pocket expenses.
By using Cigna participating laboratories, you and your patients can have greater choice and access to an extensive list of patient service centers. It can help ensure your patients obtain the services they need while maximizing their Cigna medical benefits.
A complete list of participating laboratories is available in the Cigna online directory:
- For patients who access the Cigna network: Cigna.com > Health Care Professionals > Health Care Professionals Directory > Facility/Ancillary > Labs
- For patients who access the GWH-Cigna network: GWHCignaforHCP.com > Find a Health Care Professional > Find a GWH-Cigna Medical Health Care Professional

Non-participating laboratories
With health care costs continuing to rise, it's more important than ever to be conscious of how much your patients are paying for the care they receive. The best way for your patients with Cigna-administered coverage to save on these costs is for you to ensure that their laboratory and pathology tests and samples are being sent to laboratories that are in the Cigna network.
That's why we've adopted a Non-Participating Laboratory Services Policy. If you refer your patient to a non-participating laboratory or send their test samples to a non-participating laboratory or a non-participating pathologist, your patient will be responsible for the out-of-network laboratory charges. These costs can be considerable, especially for patients who do not have out-of-network benefits.
For information, review our Non-Participating Laboratory Services Policy.
